Discourses on the Bhagabat Mahapuran and Gita.

The Thinkers’ Club, Cuttack, organized its 134th webinar focusing on “Gyan Yoga” as part of its ongoing discourse series on the Bhagabat Mahapuran and Bhagavad Gita.

Professor Sahadeb Patra inaugurated the program and highlighted the significance of the two holy scriptures authored by Maharshi Vedavyas, stating that they remain revered in every Odia household. He elaborated on the history and origin of these Puranas, emphasizing their timeless wisdom.The Indian Society from the time immemorial is based on knowledge. The teachers, Gurus, Preceptors in their different capacities, enlightened the citizens of this country and this fact is recognized all over the world. The Bhagabat Puran was written by Maharshi Veda Vyash nearly 5000 years back. He also wrote in the epic Puran Maha Bharat, Bhagabat Gita. These two holy books are store house of wisdom, philosophy and righteous activities.
The Thinkers’ Club in its two earlier webinars discussed on , Bhakti Joga and Karma Yoga. Presently in the 134th webinar, there was discussion on the subject “Gyan Joga”. Professor, Sahadeb Patra inaugurated the program and said, these two scholarly books of Bhagabawan Veda Vyasa are worshipped in the all Hindu Odiya households. Prof Patra explained to the elite audience the history and origin of these two puranas.
Aacharya Jagat Kishore Das talked on the 5163th Jubilee of the Srimad Bhagabat Gita. According to the Aacharya, knowledge is the core strength of a person. There are certain ways to learn and acquire knowledge. Our great sages have quoted Bhagawan Vishnu and said that a “Sradhaban lavate gyan.” Which connotes that, a person with attraction and inclination to knowledge only can receive knowledge. He also said that the current generation have a myth about knowledge. It is not necessary to explain this. The way students go through curriculum is an indicator of the present system.
Barada Prasanna Das, the President of the Club elaborated the speech of the Aacharya and quoted vagawan Vishnu, who once said, “ A person acquires wisdom and knowledge to whom HE assists and guides. Mr Das also said, Bhagabat and Gita are translated in major languages of the world, which shows the acceptance of these two books. He advised the listeners to understand each of the verses of the Puranas and utilize the nectar in it for their personal improvement.
Prof Umasankar Misra from the audience requested Swami Shyamananda, who was also the observer of the meet to highlight the relevance of these ancient books in the current prospective. The Swami was pleased to receive this query and spoke on the eternal nature of the knowledge recorded in these books. These books were important in the past and also will continue its usefulness eternally as a path finder to those who seek knowledge and those who are in dilemma about the day to day life .
This program was attended by Jyortimayee Mishra, Kalpana Rout, Minakhi Mohapatra, Administrator Niranjan Sahoo, Pushpanjali Parida, Sabyasachi Das, Sarada Kanta Mishra, Subash Chandra Pattanaik, Sanjib Mohanty, Subash Sahoo, Suren Pradhan and nearly 500 participants in the U Tube Channel.
