Thinkers’ Club Urges PM to Harness Odisha’s IT Potential

cuttack : The Thinkers’ Club, a group of intellectuals and industry leaders, has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to tap into Odisha’s vast potential in the IT sector to generate employment opportunities in the state.

In a letter to the PM, the club highlighted the outcome of a recent webinar, which brought together retired senior bureaucrats, IT professionals, and industry leaders to discuss the potential of the IT industry in Odisha. The webinar, chaired by Dr. Rabindra Narayan Behera, former Director of NIC and current Member of Parliament from Jajpur, concluded that the IT industry holds immense potential for growth in eastern India, particularly in Odisha.

The club noted that the major IT hubs in the country, such as Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai, are already saturated, making Odisha an attractive option for new investments. They also pointed out that some veteran organizations have already started opening their offices in Bhubaneswar, indicating a growing interest in the state.

However, the club also identified some hurdles that need to be addressed to facilitate the growth of the IT industry in Odisha, including the need to protect infrastructure and human resources from cyclones, providing high-speed internet facilities, and ensuring air connectivity. They also emphasized the need to upgrade technical colleges and institutions in Bhubaneswar and establish more institutions with higher learning opportunities.

The club expressed its confidence in the PM’s leadership and commitment to developing a New India, and pledged to do its part in fulfilling his vision for a developed Odisha.
