Odisha Emerges as New IT Hub of India: Government Initiatives Boost Sector Growth

In a significant development, leading veteran IT companies are opening their branches in Bhubaneswar, anticipating better business opportunities. The current government is urged to prioritize the IT sector, which is expected to yield significant results in the near future.

Dr Rabindra Narayana Behera (MP ,Loka sabha), a former director of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and currently a Member of Parliament, addressed the 106th webinar of the Thinkers’ Club as the chief guest. Behera emphasized that Prime Minister Modi has committed to focusing on the development of the Information and Technology Industry alongside technical universities. He pledged to utilize his 30 years of experience in the field and seek cooperation and advice from the present Minister of IT, Shree Ashini Baishnab, as well as experts to accelerate the growth of the telecommunication and IT Industry in the state.

Prominent participants, including Ayas Kanta Mohanty from Tatwa, Surjya Prakash Mohanty from Wipro Talent Skilling, Kalipada Tripathy from Tackuten, Japan, and Mana Gobinda Sethi from Wartford Company, London, shared valuable suggestions for establishing IT industries and discussed the challenges faced by organizations. They assured their support for existing and start-up units in Odisha.

Club President Shree Barada Prasanna Das highlighted the importance of the IT sector, which is pollution-free and touches every aspect of human life. He emphasized the need for precautions to safeguard the safety of IT companies and their employees, given Odisha’s susceptibility to floods and cyclones.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous decision to present a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Odisha and the Prime Minister through MP Rabindra Nath Behera. The MP expressed optimism that the scope for the industry will increase significantly once the international airport at Puri becomes operational, citing the importance of air connectivity and speedy internet services for the growth of the IT Industry.
