On Friday, Senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh proposed Narendra Modi’s name as the leader of the NDA Parliamentary Party, with the proposal being seconded by party colleagues Amit Shah and Nitin Gadkari, along with other top NDA leaders.
During the meeting at the central hall of the old Parliament house, Singh credited Modi for the expansion of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), emphasizing that this coalition represents a commitment rather than a compulsion for the BJP.
Amit Shah and Nitin Gadkari endorsed Singh’s three proposals to appoint Modi as the leader of the BJP in Lok Sabha, the NDA parliamentary party, and the BJP parliamentary party.
Support for these resolutions also came from senior NDA leaders such as H D Kumaraswamy, Chandrababu Naidu, and Nitish Kumar, setting the stage for Modi’s potential third term as prime minister.
