NSS Day Celebrated at NSM City College, Cuttack
Cuttack, Sept. 24: Netaji Subash Memorial (NSM) City College, Rajabagicha, celebrated NSS Day with enthusiasm, reaffirming the role of youth in building a healthy society. The programme was marked by thought-provoking speeches, cultural performances, and spirited participation from students and faculty.
The event began with floral tributes at the statue of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, honoring his ideals of patriotism and service. Chief Guest Dr. Abantika Kar, Reader in Psychology at Banki Autonomous College, delivered the keynote address on “Keeping Mind and Society Healthy – Role of the Youth in Present Times.” She stressed that youth are the torchbearers of social change and, inspired by leaders like Vivekananda, Gandhi, and Netaji, must embrace empathy, resilience, and civic duty.
Presiding over the programme, Principal Dr. Subhadarsini Mohanty praised the dedication of NSS volunteers. “Through NSS, our students not only serve communities but also evolve as responsible citizens and future leaders,” she said.
NSS Programme Coordinator Ms. Ananya Asmita shared the history and objectives of the National Service Scheme, while Dr. Santosh Samal, Head of Chemistry, highlighted the significance of NSS Day and the contributions of the College’s Care Club alongside NSS, NCC, and YRC units.
The event also featured reflections from NSS Co-Coordinators Ms. Smita Das and Ms. Subhashree Senapati, who spoke about guiding student volunteers in their journey of service and leadership.
A drama staged by students on the menace of drug abuse drew wide appreciation, reinforcing the power of youth-led awareness.
With vibrant participation from faculty and students, the celebration highlighted NSM City College’s commitment to fostering service, integrity, and mental well-being through youth engagement.
