Sahkar Taxi Tender Sparks Scam Allegations
New Delhi, September 1: A storm is brewing over the awarding of a high-value technology tender under the Sahkar Taxi Project, with multiple stakeholders alleging malpractice and manipulation in the bidding process.
The tender in question, Tender ID: 2025_NCDC_859536_1, was floated by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) for technology integration and management support. According to sources, several bidders have raised red flags, alleging that the evaluation process lacked transparency and may have been influenced by vested interests.
The controversy gained traction on social media after Sri Divyendu Rai (@DivyenduRai) posted about the matter on X (formerly Twitter), tagging @PMOIndia, @NCDC, and @NCDC_India. His post has drawn widespread attention from cooperative leaders, civil society groups, and governance watchdogs, with many urging for urgent intervention at the highest level.
Transparency advocates are now demanding an independent probe into the award of this contract, accountability from the officials involved, and corrective action to restore faith in government procurement systems. They argue that unchecked irregularities not only damage the cooperative movement’s credibility but also erode public trust in government-led digital transformation projects.
Experts caution that if the allegations prove to be true, the Sahkar Taxi Project—touted as a flagship model for cooperative-led entrepreneurship and sustainable mobility—may suffer a major credibility crisis. Stakeholders warn that any dent in its reputation could discourage future participation from both cooperatives and private innovators.
Meanwhile, the NCDC has yet to issue an official clarification. Demands are growing louder for transparency, fair play, and a comprehensive audit of the tendering process to ensure accountability at every level.
