Aday after Odisha Home Department Inquiry, DGP Confirms IPS Officer Ashish Singh Joined Duty on 3rd June

Odisha, June 28, 2024: Following an inquiry by the Odisha Home Department regarding the whereabouts of senior IPS officer Ashish Singh, Director General of Police (DGP) Arun Sarangi clarified today that Singh had resumed duty on 3rd June as scheduled.
The issue arose after the Election Commission of India (ECI) instructed the Odisha government to take action against Ashish Singh for allegedly misrepresenting facts related to his health. In response to the Home Department’s recent inquiry, DGP Arun Sarangi stated, “Ashish Singh was on sanctioned leave from 4th May to 2nd June . He resumed duty on3rd June and is currently serving in the Intelligence Directorate.”
The clarification by DGP Sarangi comes amidst ongoing scrutiny and administrative procedures following the ECI directive. Further developments in this matter are awaited as the state government assesses the situation concerning Ashish Singh’s actions and the directives from the Election Commission.
