Bhubaneswar, Odisha – In a heartfelt letter addressed to the Honourable Chief Minister of Odisha, a group of concerned citizens from the Thinkers’ Club has urged the government to address several long-standing issues plaguing Cuttack City. The memorandum, spearheaded by President Barada Prasanna Das and Secretary Umasankar Misra, outlines four key demands that have yet to be addressed by the current ruling BJD Government despite previous appeals.
Twin City Status for Cuttack and Bhubaneswar: The citizens have reiterated their long-standing demand for Cuttack and Bhubaneswar to be declared twin cities. This recognition is anticipated to elevate the status of Cuttack, often referred to as the millennium city, and foster balanced development between the two major urban centers.
Preservation of Idgah Ground: The memorandum calls for urgent measures to preserve the historical heritage of Idgah Ground. The citizens have requested actions to remove any encroachments that threaten the integrity of this significant site.
Honouring Kulabrudh Madhusudan: A notable figure in the history of Cuttack, Kulabrudh Madhusudan, who spent the majority of his life in the city, has been inadequately honored. The Thinkers’ Club urges the government to take appropriate steps to recognize and celebrate his contributions.
Tracing and Preserving Historical Sites: The citizens have emphasized the importance of identifying and preserving sites associated with Kulabrudha’s activities, such as the Utkal Tannery. These locations hold historical significance and should be safeguarded for future generations.
The memorandum reflects the intellectual community’s collective hope that the new government will prioritize these issues and take swift action to address them. The Thinkers’ Club believes that by acknowledging and preserving the contributions of virtuous predecessors, the government will bolster the pride and heritage of the Odiya nation.
The citizens of Cuttack are optimistic that their appeals will be met with due consideration and prompt action by the Chief Minister and his administration.
